Doors-off helicopter tours in Hawaiʻi

No window glare, no reflections, and a lot more wind. Here is who flies doors-off on each island, and the rules.

Our takeWorth it for photographers. For everyone else, a doors-on flight is quieter, warmer and has fewer restrictions.

Quick answers

Is a doors-off helicopter tour scary?
It is louder, windier and colder than a doors-on flight, and you are strapped in next to an open side. Most people find it thrilling rather than scary, but if you are nervous about heights, start with doors on.
Can I bring my camera on a doors-off flight?
Usually only a phone, secured. Air Maui allows only a phone in a lanyard case it supplies.
What should I wear on a doors-off helicopter tour?
Layers and closed-toe shoes. Air Maui’s tour page requires closed-toe shoes, while its FAQ allows secured sandals, so confirm with your operator.
